iPad sparks 30% rise in online dating

September 9, 2010

There has been a 30 per cent increase in member subscriptions since the UK launch of Apple’s iPad in May, according to new data.

The study, from dating firm GlobalPersonals.co.uk, found that iPad users also visit 126 per cent more pages and typically stay on GlobalPersonals.co.uk sites, including Singles365.com and FlirtFix.com, 119 per cent longer than other mobile devices, beating out the iPhone and the iPod Touch.
Due to its portability, screen size and high resolution, daters are taking advantage of being able to chat and search.
The increased screen size allows users to view for more options than previous a mobile devices allowed, making optimum use from each dating site they visit.
Steve Pammenter, Director of Partnerships at GlobalPersonals.co.uk comments: “The Apple iPad has become the mobile device of choice for our members as it offers them ease of use and more importantly a bigger picture on the go. Online dating is all about first impressions and the great thing about the iPad is that members no longer have to wait until they are behind a PC or laptop to continue meeting people in their quest for love.”
