AppsBuilder debuts DIY apps platform

May 31, 2011

AppsBuilder has launched an online platform that allows any user to create custom applications for iPhone, iPad and Android smartphones, tablets and web apps. The service allows the user to turn any website into a mobile application in three steps.

AppsBuilder’s innovative technology is available to both the professional and amateur markets, as well as being open to third parties who can deliver the service trough APIs to their customers.
The platform allows users to publish apps to the main stores: Apple, Android and soon also Windows.
It is free for users who choose to host an advertising banner run by AppsBuilder.
Alternatively, it can be ad-free at the cost is of 15 euro a month.
“We have always been passionate about the world of applications,” commented Daniele Pelleri, founder of AppsBuilder with Luigi Giglio. “Whilst working on apps for our clients we had the idea of creating a barrier-free service to develop mobile products that would be compatible with any device. The demand for this was quickly confirmed, with the beta version of AppsBuilder going live in November 2010, 2,400 users were registered in the first month, and 1,800 applications created.”
AppsBuilder have also developed a plugin for WordPress, the leading platform for creating blogs.
With over 30 million WordPress sites in creation, AppsBuilder’s plugin is the first that enables bloggers and site administrators to convert their contents into native applications, ready to be published in the stores for Apple, Android and in web-apps.
The apps market is growing quickly and changing rapidly with more than 500,000 applications downloaded every hour. Heavy users install an average of 22 applications and spend 3 hours daily using apps.
According to Gartner, in 2011 app store revenues are predicted to exceed 15.1 billion dollars, with an increase of 190% compared to 5.2 billion in 2010.2 With this huge demand for apps and the significant revenue that they can deliver, enabling any person to create their own by using an affordable, simple and reliable platform is a powerful tool.
AppsBuilder is the brainchild of two entrepreneurs from Ivrea, Daniele Pelleri and Luigi Giglio, both students at the Politecnico of Turin. After a successful beta period and deciding to launch on a larger scale, support was founded from two Italian angel investors: Massimiliano Magrini, founder of Annapurna Ventures and Mario Mariani, founder of The Net Value and partner of Annapurna.
“Receiving excellent blogger reviews from both inside Italy and abroad, we were really pleased with the beta launch,” continued Pelleri. “On the back of this, we decided to take the plunge and seriously launch AppsBuilder on a large scale. In Annapurna Ventures we found the ideal partner to provide the support needed to start a business, enabling people to satisfy in a simple and time-efficient way their Apps’ growing demand.”
