May 25, 2012

Drinks brand Bulmers has launched an augmented reality app letting users pour a virtual pint via their mobiles.

Designed by agency Space, the Bulmers Perfect serve app exploits the latest in digital technology and encourages customers to experience the perfect pour of Bulmers cider through their smart phones.
To use the app, users simply need to point the handset at the specially designed campaign drink-mats and posters located in participating pubs throughout the UK.
The app, available on IOS and Android, provides an engaging consumer experience by bringing a virtual pint of Bulmers to life.
Featuring an animated Bulmers glass which appears to rise from the POS, the app allows users to discover how to pour a perfect pint of Bulmers, search for the nearest pub through the Pub Finder and encourages users to explore the different variants of Bulmers available.
“As an agency Space is passionate about creativity and equally about exploring innovative ways to use technology to communicate with and engage the consumer. This app is a great demonstration of how, through digital technology and creative execution, you can provide an exceptional customer experience and communicate important brand messaging,” comments Sean Kelly, Senior Account Director, Space.
Gillian Graham, Brand Manager, Bulmers said: “Whether at home or in the pub, we want consumers to experience Bulmers at its very best. This app is both entertaining and engaging and provides an innovative way to bring to life the premium quality credentials of Bulmers. In doing so, it also adds excitement and value to the Bulmers drinking experience and encourages consumers to seek out the ‘perfect serve’ wherever they drink Bulmers cider.”
The Bulmers app is available for iPhone 4, 4s and iPad2 and 3 via iTunes app store and for Android phones and tablets via Google Play.
