Video ad marketplace SpotXchange expands to UK

June 20, 2011

SpotXchange, a global marketplace of video ad inventory, is further expanding into the United Kingdom and Europe with the appointment of Andrew Moore, a former AOL Advertising (UK) executive, as SpotXchange’s new Managing Director in the UK.

Based in London, Moore will build out the required infrastructure and scale to offer UK and European agencies and their advertisers, online advertising networks, DSPs, trading desks and publishers the SpotXchange platform, which auctions video inventory on a real-time basis to competing groups of video advertising buyers.
Moore plans to recruit local staff to manage relationships with key advertising and publishing partners throughout the UK and Europe.
Moore joins SpotXchange as Managing Director, with 13 years of advertising experience, spanning digital and traditional print advertising.
Most recently, Moore was the Head of Trading at AOL Advertising (UK). At AOL Advertising, Moore managed key commercial relationships with agency holding companies and prior to that he was Corporate Business Development Manager for magazine publisher, IPC Media. Moore’s background also includes two years at Freeserve as Advertising Sales Manager and a year at The Guardian.co.uk where he sold the first ever UK advertising campaign on a WAP-enabled mobile phone and the first UK advertising campaign on a handheld device. Moore began his career at Centaur Communications in 1997 with responsibility for online and print advertising sales for The Lawyer.
SpotXchange has been running advertisers’ video campaigns in the UK since 2008, and has been seeing rapid growth of video advertising in the region each year.
Ranked the 2nd largest online video advertising network in the UK, SpotXchange reaches nearly 30% of the country’s internet population according to comScore’s VideoMetrix service.
Commenting on the appointment, Michael Shehan, co-founder and CEO of SpotXchange, said “Andrew Moore brings a wealth of experience, relationships and understanding of the UK and European online advertising market. He knows the UK agency landscape and the best way to deliver and optimize campaigns for advertisers and video publishers. We are committed to serving UK and European clients with the best people, practices and technology and aim to establish SpotXchange as the key marketplace for the buying and selling of video inventory in the UK and Europe.”
“Video is the most exciting area in online advertising at the moment, and it becomes especially powerful when combined with audience targeting and industry-leading innovation,” said Andrew Moore, Managing Director, UK of SpotXchange. “With its proprietary technology, SpotXchange is the specialist in the buying and selling of video inventory in real-time via an exchange platform. I will lead the drive to make this available to more and more agencies and publishers in the UK and Europe.”
Moore’s appointment is effective immediately, and his initial recruiting focus will be on account management and sales positions.
