  1. In part, this is correct. SMEs will by their size, be occasional hirers – and so to build a social media campaign for occasional hires does not work compared to other methods – because of the time-scales of building sufficient a community to attract the necessary job interest.
    However, SMEs should be using Social Media ANYWAY. Social Media is a great `leveller` for the smaller business, because of the opportunity to communicate with a target market on a `one-to-one` level and create a different dynamic which can differentiate from corporate opposition.
    If an SME was already utilising Social media for it’s customer service, sales and communications strategy, it would then be in a strong position to use it for it’s recruitment strategy should it choose to do so.
