123-Reg debuts ‘GlobalSign Website Passport’ for trusted sites

March 28, 2011

Domain registrar 123-Reg has partnered with GlobalSign (www.globalsign.co.uk), to launch the new GlobalSign Website Passport – designed to help businesses generate more customers and build consumer trust.

The Website Passport allows website owners to prove that they are legitimate, safe to do business with and are not one of the three million+ fraudulent websites that enter the online space every year.
With one click on the Website Passport fingerprint logo, customers can view, in real-time, business information in a secure and accredited format. All information within the Passport is vetted by GlobalSign – who has been a leading public Certificate Authority since 1996.
Thomas Vollrath, CEO of 123-reg, commented on the launch: “In a recessionary market where competition is fierce and customer interaction and loyalty is easily swayed, making your business standout from the crowd is essential to achieve success. The Website Passport is a highly effective means of achieving just this as it instils confidence in the customer that the company they are dealing with is credible and their business is being placed in safe hands.”
Furthermore, the Passport can be customised from an array of trust-enhancing ‘apps’. The first batch of apps include official company information, Web of Trust (WOT) ratings and malware distribution monitoring, the latter of which alerts website owners if their site has been hacked and is unknowingly distributing hidden malware.
“The Internet has become a minefield of fake and fraudulent websites, and the GlobalSign Passport is a essential tool for legitimate sites to build trust with their customers”, said Paul Tourret, GMO GlobalSign Limited. “123-Reg is once again going the extra mile to help its customers drive traffic to their websites, enhance engagement and conversions, minimise abandonment and protect the website from malware injection attacks and potential removal from Google search results.”
123-Reg will be offering Website Passports as a standalone product to allow all organisations to enhance their online presence, establish their legitimate identity, and protect themselves and their customers from malware threats.
