The myths of social sharing: Facebook and Twitter ‘are not the biggest sharing platforms’

Most social sharing happens via ‘copy and pasted’ links shared over iPhones and iPads- not via Facebook likes and Twitter retweets, according to this new infographic from Radium one looking at the six biggest myths about how content spreads across the web.


Key findings from the infographic shows that:
1. Facebook and Twitter are not the biggest sharing platforms – 72% of all sharing is still copy and paste
2. Vanity URLs increase average click volumes by 25%
3. Links shared on Thursdays have the longest lifespan
4. People engage with shared content 49% more during weekdays, with sport content 4x more popular on Mondays and Tuesdays than over the weekend
5. 55-64 year olds engage more with brand content than millennials (41% vs. 19%) In fact, millennials are least likely to engage with brand content of all age groups
6. Twitter offers more referral traffic than Facebook
