Vine adds ‘TV Mode’ for web viewing

January 6, 2014

Vine has expanded its web features, as the Twitter- owned app looks to boost ways of sharing its 6-second videos.

To look at Vine online, users can go to vine.co and enter their username to get a Web version of the app.
The home feed is available, and users can like or comment on videos. Vines will autoplay as users navigate the homepage, and you can share your user page with others.
The “TV Mode” also allows for full-screen viewing from the Web.
Writing in the Vine blog, Janessa Det, Engineer, says: “Today, we’re introducing a new way to experience Vine: on the web. Log in at vine.co to view your home feed and like, comment, and share videos just as you do on our mobile apps. You can also visit your favourite users’ Vine profiles to browse the videos they’ve created since joining Vine. Plus, now you can share your profile with others so they can see your posts.”
Det also reveals a new feature added exclusively on the web – TV Mode – which she describes as an entirely new way to watch Vine videos. “Click the TV Mode button in the upper right corner of your feed or any profile to view the collection of videos in sequence and in full screen mode,” she advises.
According to Det, the release is just a first step toward bringing users a richer, more enjoyable web experience. “We look forward to introducing more improvements in 2014,” she says.
