MoneySupermarket revamps search for shopping channel

June 19, 2013

Price comparison site MoneySupermarket is using the search algorithm from Become Europe, to boost the relevance of its shopping channel.

The tool, called LiveXML 3.1 API, is capable of generating relevant product suggestions in multiple categories in response to a query. This increases the likelihood of consumers finding relevant results for their search queries and delivering incremental sale opportunities for retailers.
The new and improved search algorithm means, for example, that if a user is searching for an iPod they will not just be shown mp3 players, but also relevant accessories like bags and battery packs.
“Become Europe’s technology has been refining the search process for our customers since we started working together in 2008,” said Danny Munday, Head of Commercial (New Business) at MoneySupermarket. “We aim to provide an improved shopping experience across our site, and look forward to seeing even more relevant content and up-to-date offers onsite in future in cooperation with Become.”
The newly released LiveXML 3.1 API also features advanced campaign tracking tools, which allow publishers to directly monitor and optimise their search engine marketing campaigns. This feature has already been integrated into all services provided by Become Europe, and is invisible to customers visiting the site.
“Our wide network of merchants throughout the UK and Europe in general has contributed to the continuing success of our European partners, including MoneySupermarket and leading further price comparison sites,” said Michael Rausch, General Manager at Become Europe. “The new search algorithm will allow our clients to guarantee the best prices and most relevant results for every customer, as search results will be generated from a diverse range of product suppliers.”
Become Europe is offering the updated interface to new customers automatically, whilst existing customers are being migrated to the technology on request.
Become Europe’s other UK clients also include Twenga.co.uk, Offeroftheday.co.uk, PriceGong and Alatest.co.uk.
