MySupermarket to launch grocery shopping price comparison app

October 30, 2012

MySupermarket is set to launch a free app that assists grocery shoppers on finding the cheapest prices when purchasing online.

Dubbed the ‘MySupermarket Companion App’, the tool automatically recognises the URLs of online supermarket websites before comparing prices of users’ baskets with other retailers.
The program – launching next week – will also highlight other ways in which consumers can save money.
James Foord, vice-president of business development at MySupermarket, said to the news provider that consumers should have the right to know the truth about promotions and prices. We understand that sometimes customers might want to shop directly using Waitrose, or Tesco’s, sites, that’s fine but we want them to have the power of MySupermarket on their side and watching their back.”
It comes after research from YouGov for Udozi revealed that smartphones and tablets are boosting high street sales as consumers become more interactive in the shopping process.
It will also tell shoppers of the cashback offers they can claim by using MySupermarket.
The site launched its first TV ad campaign earlier this month, signalling a shift in the brand’s marketing efforts.
It hopes to grow visits to its site to 5 million unique users in the run up to Christmas. It currently attracts 3.5 million.
