August 28, 2012

SongPop, a ‘name that tune’ game for smartphones and tablets, has taken the market by storm, attracting 25 million unique players since its launch only four months ago.

The game lets users show off their musical-recognition talent through challenges with friends and users all across the globe.
Players are matched up with opponents and asked to quickly guess the singers or titles of songs. The faster the player answer correctly, the more points they earn. With more points come more categories and challenges.
The game’s makers FreshPlanet announced that SongPop has now 25 million unique players, getting a consistent five-star rating, and 4 million people playing the game every day.
SongPop is available on Facebook.com, and connected with Facebook on iPhone and Android to make it easy for people to play with their friends.
The Facebook-connected app is one of the fastest growing apps, according to AppData.
It is consistently ranked among the top apps on iTunes App Store, Google Play and Facebook App Center, with strong growth led by Facebook’s Open Graph across platforms.
“SongPop is a simple and fun game that gives people the ideal interplay between social, mobile, and a quick hit of competition between people who love music,” said Mathieu Nouzareth, CEO and co-founder, FreshPlanet. “SongPop’s success shows that, with the right idea, a small startup can succeed in connecting millions of people, reignite their love for their favorite hits and prolong that musical experience when the game is over by redirecting them to international and local e-retailers and subscription services including iTunes. Our goal is to continue increasing SongPop’s music discovery potential and to continually build in new social features that keep players coming back.”
