Sacramento Kings debut NBA’s first Facebook 360 Live Stream

January 24, 2017

Last week, the Sacramento Kings launched a technology first – the NBA’s first Facebook 360 Live Stream.

The Kings Digital team partnered with 360fly to broadcast a behind the scenes look at the team’s entertainment squads, the Sacramento Kings Dancers and Dunk Team.

Through emerging technology, the Kings look to enhance the fan experience and create new ways for fans to interact with the team.

To deliver the live 360 video stream, the team deployed a 360fly 4K camera to capture the action for Facebook viewers.

“Through technology, we’re able to welcome more fans and viewers behind the scenes of various elements that go into the excitement that is NBA Basketball,” said Kings Owner and Chairman Vivek Ranadivé. “We’ll continue to explore ways we can enhance the fan experience in and out of the arena – and around the world.”

Only one team can say it has an autonomous data machine that patrols the halls, the NBA’s largest and only 4K Ultra HD videoboard, and a first-of-its-kind dual venue and team app that allows fans to have “remote control” access to the arena’s features.

The Kings are proud to continue the mission to bring fans an experience that is “bigger than basketball.”

Recently, the Kings were honored as SportTechie’s “Most Tech Savvy Team of 2016” due to their pioneering work in utilizing virtual reality to broadcast games and launch the team’s new uniforms.

Meanwhile the teams’ ‘Golden 1 Center’ claims to be the world’s most technologically advanced and sustainable arena – including autonomous data machine that patrols the halls, the NBA’s largest and only 4K Ultra HD videoboard, and first-of-its-kind dual venue and team app that allows fans to have “remote control” access to the buildings enhanced features.
The team also made history last week when they broadcast their annual Bollywood Night Celebration and game to fans in India on Facebook Live – and NBA first.
