Cognitive Match wins over digital pioneer Andrew Walmsley

March 18, 2011

Online ad targeting firm Cognitive Match has boosted its team with i-level founder Andrew Walmsley joining its board in a non-executive capacity.

Walmsley will help guide the award-winning predictive targeting firm as it expands in the US and Europe, bringing expertise in client-focused business growth and online marketing strategy.
Prior to advising Cognitive Match, Walmsley co- founded pioneering digital media agency i-level in 1999. He built it to over £100m turnover, winning more than 50 awards, including Agency of the Year eight times and also a Queen’s Award for Enterprise.
He sold his stake in 2008, transitioning to a new role as a digital pluralist and is now an active investor sitting on the boards of several companies, on the Advertising Association’s Credos board and consulting to senior executives in the world’s largest companies. He has written a popular weekly column for Marketing magazine for the last four years.
Commenting on his decision, Walmsley said: “Cognitive Match is going to be a vital part of digital marketing, allowing online businesses to respond instantly to customer needs. It’s already transforming advertising and site effectiveness for some of the biggest online players, and I’m excited to be a part of such a visionary business.”
Cognitive Match founder, Alex Kelleher, said: “Andrew brings a rare set of skills to Cognitive Match’s advisory team; vision, experience and tenacity. He is one of the true pioneers of digital advertising and knows perhaps better than anyone else, what global brands need to do to stay on top of the arms race in online advertising. We look forward very much to his guidance and input as we build the next great marketing technology business.”
