Android users get “Pay With Google” for simpler mobile shopping

October 23, 2017

Google has launched a new mobile payment service for Android devices that aims to simplify the transaction process, called “Pay With Google”.

Under the new system, Android users can utilise any credit or debit card saved anywhere in their Google account for online purchases, with no need to enter multiple lines of payment details in online forms.

Not to be confused with Android Pay or Google Wallet, Pay with Google replaces credit card forms with a simple button.

When a user taps a button, select the preferred card, and confirm the transaction with a security code or your Android device.

The only thing users need to do is identify themselves, by using your phone’s fingerprint scanner, for example, or by confirming thier card’s three-digit CVC security number.

Pay with Google works via the company’s Chrome web browser and on an expanding list of Android apps, including popular services such as Kayak, Postmates and Dice. More services, including Airbnb, Deliveroo, Hotel Tonight, Just Eat and Hungry House are coming soon.

Pay with Google will include the credit or debit cards and shipping address you used when setting up Google products including Google Play, YouTube, Chrome, and Android Pay.

The service works on the web and in Android apps, but developers will have to add it to their properties before you can use it. Google says the process is quick and simple, but for now the list of participating merchants is pretty short.

At launch, Pay with Google can be used in the Android app or Chrome browser at the following 15 places, with a dozen or so more listed as “coming soon”:
