Kantar updates real-time TV ratings technology

July 22, 2016

Kantar has made enhancements to its real time TV ratings platform, helping broadcasters make immediate decisions about live programming.

The updated analytics platform includes a responsive design offering the best user experience possible, as well as new features making it even easier to interpret and analyse the data.

Kantar Media’s real-time ratings technology delivers live information on audience viewing for every minute of the broadcasting window. The enhanced design will enable broadcasters and programme makers to analyse the real-time audience data on their smartphones, tablets and PCs and assess how programmes are being received by the audience.

“We’re proud to have been the first measurement provider in the world to create and deliver real-time ratings”, commented Richard Asquith, Global CEO of Audience Intelligence at Kantar Media. “From its clear success as the technology of choice across 10 countries in Latin America, we’ve now begun a pilot in Europe. Our PeopleMeter technology is producing real-time ratings and the trusted overnight viewing data simultaneously within a test environment in Spain. As new advertising models and programmatic systems are adopted, real-time ratings as an extension of the TV currency system can deliver broadcasters strong competitive advantage.”

Kantar Media was the first provider in the world to deliver real-time ratings to the TV industry in 1988. This service is now available in 10 markets with Kantar Media operating or licensing TV measurement in over 50 markets worldwide.
