iPhone 6s sales one week on: Lagging behind last year’s model

September 30, 2015

A week on from the latest iPhone launch, how are adoption rates faring? New research looks at usage rates over the weekend.

Fiksu measured the volume of new device activations 3 days post-release and found the following:

• Adoption of the iPhone 6S is lagging behind adoption of the original iPhone 6 one year ago by almost 40%. After 3 days of sales, iPhone 6S is at 1.1% adoption compared to 1.8% for the iPhone 6 in the same timeframe last year.

• After 3 days of sales, the iPhone 6S Plus is tracking at 0.3% adoption which is, in fact, identical to adoption of the original iPhone 6Plus 3 days post its 2014 launch. This indicates consistent appreciation from people who prefer the larger format device.

Methodology

Fiksu’s data is gathered from app usage — apps that have Fiksu’s SDK are installed on hundreds of millions of iOS devices. Fiksu is a provider of data-fueled mobile marketing technologies that connect brands, agencies, and app advertisers to targeted mobile audiences throughout the customer journey.
