Photo retailer Jessops looks set to continue as an online-only brand, following the acquisition of its brand and other assets from a group of buyers including one of the stars of BBC’s Dragon’s Den.
The company’s administrators PwC announced the sale to a group that includes Dragon’s Den entrepreneur Peter Jones.
Rob Hunt, joint administrator and partner, PwC said:
”We can confirm that we have sold the brand and certain other assets to a number of buyers including entrepreneur Peter Jones CBE.”
The move seems to indicate that the company will now be moved online, following the closure of the company’s 187 stores earlier this month.
Jessops called in the administrators earlier this month after failing to make headway against the twin pressures of the consumer move to rely on smartphones (pictured) to take photographs, and of weak consumer confidence.
Today its website still bears the administrators’ notice, although the Jessops Photo website is still up and running. CeWe Color is due to take over the Jessops Photo database early next month.
