All3Media debuts video on demand app for smart TVs

March 22, 2012

ALL3MEDIA has launched a new TV store app for Samsung and LG connected TVs, in partnership with software company easeltv.

This app provides ‘TV channel’ design, including full screen video that plays on the launch of the application, with the programming based on editorial recommendation and algorithmic curation for each viewer.
The app will be available consumers via Samsung and LG smart TVs.
Both services will initially launch in the UK rolling out in the USA shortly after.
Over 230 hours of key ALL3MEDIA content including Skins, The Only Way Is Essex, Midsomer Murders, Derren Brown and Peep Show will initially be available to buy on a pay per view basis via the App.
Further series from ALL3MEDIA’s roster of over 20 independent production companies will be made available over time.
Andy Taylor, Commercial Director, ALL3MEDIA said: “Our primary business will continue to be licensing our programmes to international broadcasters and video on demand partners such as Netflix, Hulu and Lovefilm. The new All3Media app, however, will allow us to experiment with different payment models, to continue to get closer to our viewers and to experiment offering our content in a range of territories. It is estimated that there will be 500m connected TVs in the world in 2015 so now seems like a good time to experiment and learn about consumer behaviour”.
ALL3MEDIA partnered with Connected TV specialist software company easeltv, payment solution provider PayWizard and video technology specialist Ooyala to launch the service.
