Video: Top 10 YouTube clips of 2010

December 20, 2010

YouTube has looked back on the year to launch a video of its most watched clips of 2010, including Old Spice, annoying oranges and bed intruders.

During 2010, people watched more than 700 billion YouTube videos, and uploaded more than 13 million hours of video.
That translates into about 2 billion views a day, an increase of 50% compared with last year. What’s more, 24 hours of new videos are uploaded to the video sharing site every minute.
While the question of Google makes any money out of the video site remains unanswered, advertising turnover had tripled during the year.
UK videos
‘Gap Yah’ – a satirical sketch which parodies the student gap year has been named as the biggest homegrown comedy hit of 2010.
Cher Lloyds X factor audition was the most viewed talent show clip in Britain whilst Justin Beiber’s promotional video for the single ‘Baby’ was the single most viewed clip in the UK in 2010.
Fascinating Aida’s ‘Cheap Flights’, a wityy ode to the frustrations encountered when booking budget flights, was the fifth most popular comedy video of 2011.
“More than ever in 2010 YouTube was a hub of creativity, a hive of hilarity and the place for people to share their passions and entertain themselves online,” said Anna Bateson, Director of Marketing, YouTube UK.
