AVG teams with Google to boost anti-virus search

November 17, 2010

AVG Technologies has struck an agreement with Google to boost the search functionality of the firm’s anti-virus software.

The deal will see Google’s technology integrated into the AVG Security Toolbar product and real time internet security solution, AVG LinkScanner.
The products provide AVG users with real-time protection against malicious links and downloads while they search the web, including protection on social networks.
“AVG is committed to providing our users with intuitive technology that allows them to proactively prevent computer infections while they search the Web. Combining the power of AVG’s state of the art technology with Google search technology makes perfect sense,” said J.R. Smith, chief executive officer of AVG Technologies. “This agreement gives our customers extraordinary search tools and the peace of mind that comes with knowing that AVG is protecting their online experience in real time while they transact, socialize, share information and work in a rapidly changing, somewhat volatile online world.”
Pricing for a one-year, one-seat license for AVG Internet Security 2011 starts at $54.99.
A one year one-seat license for AVG Anti-Virus 2011 starts at $34.00 and a two-year, one-seat license starts at $51.99.
