Thomson Local debuts business search app

October 19, 2010

ThomsonLocal has announced that it has launched a local business search app for iPhone users, enabling them to access the company’s database of over 1.8 million UK business listings.

As well as local business details, the free app allows users to read reviews from other customers and leave their own ratings and reviews in real-time.
Jill Pringle, Marketing Director, ThomsonLocal.com said: “Mobile users want quick, easy and accurate search results when they are looking for a local business whilst on the move. We have included ‘one-touch’ search from the homepage meaning that people can find the most popular types of businesses in an instant using the in-built GPS functionality.
“Not only can contact details be accessed, we have integrated our ratings and reviews feature within the app meaning that people can read what other consumers have said about the business, helping to make better informed decisions or leave a review instantly for others to benefit from.
“Choosing one business over the other can be tricky, so we have also given businesses the ability to upload additional information such as pictures, promotional offers and a more detailed description of the products or services they offer via ThomsonLocal.com. This information is presented through the app, giving consumers a real insight into what a particular local business has to offer.”
Pringle continued: “Our focus is to ensure our customers gain the local, targeted exposure they need and to give users relevant search results across a wide range of media.”
The ThomsonLocal.com app can be downloaded for free from the iPhone app store.
