Jupiter Communications Initiates Efforts in Latin America With New Research Services, Industry Forum

December 6, 1999

Jupiter Communications Inc. (Nasdaq: JPTR), the worldwide authority on Internet commerce, today announced the company’s expansion into Latin America, with the launch of a new research service, a version of the company’s renowned Internet Commerce Forum for the market in Latin America, exclusive access to the region’s most prominent consumer research panel, and the establishment of a company sales presence in the region.

Jupiter projects that more than nine million online users in Latin America will log on by the end of this year, and the number will increase to 38 million in 2003 – this increase of nearly 50 percent annually marks it as the region with the highest growth rate internationally, exceeding that of the US, Europe, and Asia.

“It is inevitable that Internet commerce will explode in Latin America, but in a way that is unique to the region and its distinct market dynamics,” said Gene DeRose, CEO of Jupiter Communications. “Jupiter’s analyst research is a perfect solution for executives struggling to understand how to best leverage this phenomenon as it unfolds.”
