Facebook news feed u-turn lets users see recent stories first

November 11, 2011

Facebook has bowed to user pressure and allowed users to see their most recent updates first, rather than ordered based on interest levels.

In September Facebook announced that it had changed the way its News Feed worked to give users a new way to see the things they are most interested in.
Facebook users immediately criticized the new changes and have been urging Facebook to go back to the original News Feed.
Now, Facebook is appeasing these users and giving them the option to see the most recent stories first.
“You can also continue to view highlighted stories first, followed by recent stories, like what you see today,” said Facebook’s Mark Tonkelowitz in an update on the company’s blog. “If you don’t have the updates to News Feed yet, you can expect to see them over the coming weeks as the rollout continues.”
To change from highlighted stories (those that are the most relevant to you or have lots of likes) to a chronological view click on the “SORT” button at the top right of the Facebook News Feed.
