Snapchat launches embeddable map feature on the web

February 13, 2018

Snapchat has taken its Snap Map feature to the web, letting users see public Stories laid out on a map.

The tool, available at map.snapchat.com lets people view public Stories from around the world.

Users can browse the map, and click on any available bubble to view the public story posted from that place.

Snap is also hoping this will become a resource for media organisations hoping to drive engagement and provide real-time views of news viewers and readers care about.

There’s an embed feature, letting users get a link or an actual embed code for inclusion in posts or websites.

The map also shows a heat map to show activity from users by relative volume, even if said content hasn’t yet been incorporated into a public story.

Embeds created from the tool will continue to have live content, meaning that users viewing them will see current information, rather than a snapshot of what was going on at the time it was published.
