BIMA unveils shortlist for 2011 digital media awards

October 11, 2011

The British Interactive Media Association (BIMA) has revealed the final shortlist for its annual award ceremony to be held on November 10th as Internet Week Europe wraps up.

The entry and nomination process which drew on the insights of an expert panel of 50 judges is now complete.
This year’s awards, with 26 sector and discipline categories plus five Premium Awards has seen a record number of entrants and those that made the final nominee list of 100 represent the cream of UK digital talent both in terms of creativity, effectiveness and innovation.
During a packed event at LBi’s headquarters on Brick Lane, Nick Jones, head of digital at the Prime Minister’s office and Cabinet Office discussed the year in digital and gave insights into the importance of the UK’s leadership in this space.
James Bruce, Head of Creative EMEA at Disney online announced the 100 nominees.
The full list of categories and nominees can be seen here.
Justin Cooke, CEO of Fortune Cookie and Chair of BIMA gave an overview of BIMA’s achievements over the past year and noted that the UK leads the world in terms of the diversity and dynamism of its digital media industry. He went on to say that there’s only one awards ceremony that reflects this: the BIMA Awards.
Chris Kempt, BIMA Exec, MD of Kempt and Co-Chair of the BIMA Awards judging panel said: “The calibre of entries was outstanding and as a result the judging was a lot closer than in previous years – meaning we’ll see a number of highly commended entries as well as winners this year. Those who’ve won nominations can pat themselves on the back for having risen to the top of a seriously good bunch.”
James Bruce, Head of Creative EMEA for Disney Online and Co-Chair of the BIMA Awards judging panel said: “This is my first involvement with the BIMA Awards and it was a real honour. As co-chair it gave me a unique chance to take a comprehensive view of the judging process of which I was hugely impressed. The passion and fervour of nomination discussion and the breadth of talent on display made for some great debate.”
Headline sponsors of the BIMA Awards 2011 are Dedipower with support from Microsoft, Digital Gurus, Futureheads, Greensquare, Results International, Round8, Sheridans, Pure Genie, iStock Photo and Aditi.
