December 16, 2016

Price comparison site comparethemarket.com has collaborated with Disney’s Frozen to reveal two new meerkat toys.

The toys mark the return of the meerpup Oleg and introduces a new character, Ayana. This ties in with the first terrestrial showing of Frozen on BBC1 on Christmas Day.

The release of the toys marks the return of the nations’ favourite meerpup Oleg and the introduction of his best friend Ayana.

Oleg was last seen on Christmas Day two years ago when Aleksandr and Sergei bid him farewell in Africa, devastating the nation. Now back, the adorable new Oleg toy is dressed as Olaf the snowman in a cute onesie, with Ayana dressed as Elsa complete with magical snowflake and princess dress.

From the 12th December, if customers have purchased a product from comparethemarket.com in the last 12 months, they will be able to get one of these new Limited Edition MEERKAT MOVIES Disney Frozen toys when they purchase a qualifiying product through comparethemarket.com. The rest of the nation can secure their limited edition toy from the 22nd December.

The UK’s love of Disney’s Frozen continues this year with the first terrestrial showing of the film on Christmas Day (BBC1 at 3.10pm). Last weekend also saw the premiere of Frozen: Magic Of The Northern Lights, an exclusive new LEGO animated miniseries follow-up to Frozen, on Disney Junior and other Disney channels.

Families are also in for a treat as a special Frozen inspired ad from comparethemarket.com marks the big day, with details currently top secret. Fans can, however, expect a breath-taking return to our screens for meerpup favourite Oleg.

Anna Hill, Disney’s CMO, UK & Ireland, added: “It shows the power of our franchise-management strategy that we’ve been able to keep Frozen front of mind three years on from the movie by creating fantastic mass market moments, such as this brilliant comparethemarket.com campaign. Coupled with the Christmas Day broadcast of Frozen on BBC1, the continued success of Disney On Ice presents Frozen, the launch of Frozen: Magic of the Northern Lights content across Disney platforms, and retailer and marketing activity such as our UK-wide Heart radio promotion and Duracell tie-ups, Frozen is set to continue delighting fans this season and into 2017.”

Mark Vile, Marketing Director at comparethemarket.com, said: “With the festive season well underway, we’re excited to give our customers the first opportunity to get their hands on two new toys in time for Christmas. Frozen continues to capture the imaginations of children and households up and down the country and we anticipate that Oleg and Ayana will be the must have toys children will be wishing to find under the Christmas tree on the 25th December. We hope that families across the UK have a magical day together and enjoy their special comparethemarket.com present.”
