The rise of same-day and-next day delivery [INFOGRAPHIC]

October 26, 2017

Who wouldn’t love having option of same-day or next-day delivery? It is of course a great thing for customers and businesses are aware of the demand for it. However, as this infographic from 2Flow outlines how it is far from easy to deliver products on the same day or next day to customers.

For example, the logistics of it can be a total nightmare as if a business doesn’t have enough stores and warehouses spread across their delivery area; it’s simply not going to be possible to provide same day or even next day delivery to all customers. There can also be stock issues on popular products that make quick deliveries impossible.

Another thing businesses need to consider is the high cost involved. It’s all well and good if the customer is happy but if the businesses margins have been eroded trying to keep customers happy, the whole exercise will have been futile.

Businesses considering short delivery times must also consider the staffing implications. These will escalate if you offer same-day delivery and you certainly don’t want to be dragging staff from store operations as this will compromise your business.
