Presidential debate: New scoreboard tracks social media sentiment

September 27, 2016

Following Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump’s first presidential debate analytics firm Socialbakers has launched a Social Scoreboard to monitor sentiment around the US Presidential Election.

The scoreboard allows users to monitor the conversations on social media around the two presidential candidates, their spouses and first daughters in six of the most influential US media outlets, as well as the conversations on Facebook and Twitter.

This tool is also able to:

· Analyse social interactions, posts per day and total audience size of each candidate

· Monitor social media conversations around the two presidential candidates as well as their spouses and first daughters

· Give real-time updates on the best performing social posts around the debate

· Show comparisons between the candidates and their family members

The scoreboard is interactive, allowing users to choose and compare the Republican and Democratic party’s candidates for President, Trump and Clinton, along with their spouses Melania Trump and Bill Clinton, and the two potential first daughters, Ivanka Trump and Chelsea Clinton.

“More than ever before, people are getting their news updates via social media feeds on channels like Twitter or Facebook,” said Robert Lang, CEO, Socialbakers. “Politicians have learned that the social-first approach allows them to get real-time feedback, both positive and negative, from supporters and potential voters, and to engage a much broader audience than merely using traditional channels. The Socialbakers US Elections Social Scoreboard pulls all of this social data into one place and allows anyone to easily monitor social conversation in the run-up to the election”.

Leveraging the largest social media database in the industry, Socialbakers has been monitoring conversation around the US Elections since the primaries began. A study by Socialbakers shows that Clinton is far behind Trump on Social Media.
