Video Viral of the Week: 50 Cent spoofs MTV’s Cribs with ‘In Da Hostel’

May 23, 2016

With Snapchat set to revive MTV’s Cribs, Hostel World has released a spoof ad with a little help from rapper 50 Cent.

50 Cent has most recently made headlines for going into debt having to file for bankruptcy, has teamed up with a travel site to parody both the show and his financial struggles.

The new campaign promotes the “bling with no sting” of staying in budget accommodation booked through Hostelworld.

He gives a tour of a hostel in Barcelona shot as a parody of Cribs, the MTV show where the rich and famous show off their ostentatious homes.

Here, the jet-setting rhymer takes a turn at the foosball table, waves hello to some ladies pool-side and offers a peek into the tour bus-like beds of the Barcelona hostel before hitting up his go-to spot, the club.

“We are so happy to have converted 50 Cent into a hosteller – he’s found the best way to live like a millionaire without having to part with crazy amounts of money in the process,” said Hostelworld chief marketing officer Otto Rosenberger. “We look forward to welcoming the rest of the world’s music elite at our hostels very soon.”

The TV ad campaign has been created by ad agency Lucky Generals.

50 Cent follows in the footsteps of Chris Eubank, the former boxing champion, who starred in an ‘Alan Partridge’ inspired Hostelworld.com advert last year.
