Video viral of the week: Toyota reunites Marty and Doc for ‘Back to the Future’ day

October 21, 2015

With ‘Back to the Future Day’ now upon us, Toyota have reunited the stars of the film to discuss what the sequel got right (and wrong) about life in 2015. See why it’s our video viral of the week below…

October 21, 2015 marks the day that Marty McFly time travelled to in the film Back to the Future Part 2, a world of hover boards, flying cars and dog-walking drones.

The promote the launch of Toyota’s Mirai hydrogen fuel cell vehicle, the car maker put out a teaser video on YouTube featuring Michael J Fox and Christopher Lloyd discussing how the films futuristic predictions compared to the real 2015.

The conversation ties in with Toyota, who are pushing the ‘futuristic’ technology of hydrogen fueling.

In a statement, Fox said: “Over the years we’ve had a lot of fun predicting which Back to the Future fictional 2015 technology would arrive by the real year. Now that we’re a week away, I think fans are going to have a good time with what Toyota sees as a true possibility for transportation. It’s actually really cool.”

Toyota also plans to reveal a recreation of the Tacoma that Marty McFly drove in the movies.

From 3D movies to fingerprint technology, there’s plenty that the film got right… but flying cars are still some way off.

The teaser video has already garnered over 2.5 million views a week on from its launch.

The full video was be launched on ‘Back to the Future Day’ itself.
