Facebook launches Rugby World Cup guide

September 15, 2015

With the start of The Rugby World Cup just days away, Facebook has posted a World Cup guide, as the social network continues to postion itself as a news and content destination.

The new service gives users the top team and player accounts to follow to help fans keep across all of the tournament action both on and off the pitch.

The overview of how to celebrate The Rugby World Cup on Facebook, includes the official Facebook pages for each of the 20 participating teams and the Top 10 Players on Facebook

Details of two new features created to help fans get involved in the tournament:

Facebook World Cup stickers featuring Shaun the Sheep. The stickers feature the popular woolly character along with popular rugby cheers like ‘HEAVE!,’ ‘TRY!,’ ‘PENALTY!,’ for users to post during matches.

A new smiley icon also lets fans show which specific match Rugby they are watching, along with a flag to show the team they support.
