Top websites in South Africa in 2013

News24 is South Africa’s most popular website, followed by Howzit and iol, according to bata from Effective Measure.

Effective Measure is the official traffic measurement partner of the Digital Media and Marketing Association (DMMA), and provides accurate traffic statistics for South Africa’s top websites.
The research looked at the total audience (including international) and also South African visitors only.
It also separated desktop and mobile websites. When it comes to total traffic, which includes South African and international readers, the same three websites topped the list.
According to the May 2013 Effective Measure statistics, News24 attracted 2.4 million unique South African visitors. Howzit.MSN ranked second with 1.7 million unique visitors and IOL third with 1.5 million.
The following table provides an overview of the top websites in South Africa (excluding mobile websites), ranked according to South African unique visitors.

Mobile websites
The latest Effective Measure statistics also revealed South Africa’s largest mobile website. Here Vodafone Live, News24 Mobile, and Supersport dominated.
