October 6, 2011

Most people follow a brand on social media platforms to receive special deals, but many are also looking for entertaining content, according to research.

As this infographic from social media agency Get Satisfaction demonstrates, the mains reasons to follow a brand are because they are a current customer of the brand, or to receive special offers or deals, especially on Twitter.
However there are some other interesting stats, as a good chunk of people also follow brands for entertaining or interesting content.
In addition, more than 50 % people follow 2-5 brands on Facebook, whereas 97% of peope, admit that social media has influenced their purchase decision.
About 23% have downloaded a branded app on their mobile device and 70% participated in brand sponsored contest or sweepstakes.
