Infinite Authors offers self-publishing tools for e-book writers

March 3, 2011

Oxford-based independent publisher Infinite Ideas launches a new self-publishing website, Infinite Authors.

Infinite Authors allows writers to publish their works as high-quality printed books and e-books.
Marketing director Tim Moore said: “These will be books that authors can be truly proud of as they will be indistinguishable from those available in bookshops. Infinite Authors is a true self-publishing site. Our authors will own their intellectual property and be in complete control of every aspect of the publishing process. In addition, because Infinite Authors is owned by an established publisher we can give authors expert advice on sales, marketing and distribution.”
Self-publishing has become one of the few growth sectors of the book publishing industry.
Bowker reports triple-digit growth in print-on-demand titles in the US, driven by the enormous rise in self-publishing.
Many industry experts predict that within the next ten years the self-publishing sector will be more valuable than the traditional publishing sector.
Managing director David Grant, sees the rise in self-publishing as a global phenomenon and states: “New authors are desperate to be published but the conventional publishing industry ignores too many of them. However, some of the currently available self-publishing offerings are driven purely by a print engine.
“They don’t address design or editorial quality and they don’t fully explain or indeed understand distribution and marketing. True self-publishing, where the author has full ownership of his or her IP and can produce a book to bookshop quality, is rare in an industry that is unregulated and awash with disappointed authors.”
In the US there are already more self-published titles released per annum than books published by conventional houses.
Grant concludes: “Infinite Authors, as part of Infinite Ideas, puts writers at the heart of the publishing process and offers them access to real publishing skills. We feel uniquely positioned to support new writers through a content-rich website that offers advice and assistance at every stage of an author’s journey.”
