we7 takes ad-funded music site to Ireland

January 18, 2011

Music streaming service we7 has launched in Ireland this week, marking the first move out of the UK for the company since it was established with former Genesis front-man, Peter Gabriel in 2008.

As well as being able to create personal radio stations and request songs for free from we7’s 6.5 million track music catalogue, Irish listeners will also be able to sign up to we7’s monthly Premium and Premium Plus packages.
The subscriptions, available for an introductory monthly fee of €4.99 allow members to stream their favourite music without adverts on PCs and for €9.99 to include iPhone and Android devices.
Commenting on the launch, Steve Purdham, we7’s CEO said: “We’re delighted to be making our international debut in Ireland today and are looking forward to a busy few months as we prepare for further expansion across Europe. It’s an exciting time for we7, following the launch of Personal Radio Plus so we are setting our sights high for similar success throughout 2011.”
