Phone maker HTC is poised to launch an online store selling e-books and apps, according to reports.
The manufacturer is in the process of hiring staff for the launch, a report in the Financial Times said.
Sources told the paper that HTC was hiring content editors for a planned online HTC smartphone store, which will include e-books and magazines as well apps.
It is understood the team will start with staff in Taiwan and will expand to 100 people across the globe.
Sources said the move is also possibly linked to the expansion of the HTC Sense.com service.
HTC admitted it was hiring for a variety of positions but added: ‘We are always exploring new areas we can add value to our customers but we can’t comment on our future plans.’
