Best Buy launches online shop in UK

November 4, 2010

US electricals retail giant Best Buy has launched its UK transactional website, including customer recommendations from a partnership with Reevoo.

BestBuy.co.uk will incorporate the advice offered its in-store team, ‘the Blueshirts’, as well as invite and involve the opinions and recommendations of consumers.
Customers will be able to find over 350 ‘Inspiration and Advice’ guides and articles on the latest technology, product and service information written in plain English.
An exclusive series of interactive video buying guides, including topics on home appliances, televisions, Blu-ray, computing and digital cameras, will launch in the next few weeks.
The Blueshirt experience video buying guides see customers being asked a series of questions to provide a personalised recommendation on the type of product that will be right for them and their lifestyle.
Best Buy has teamed up with Reevoo, the independent publisher of genuine customer reviews, which will present product reviews written by real people who have purchased the featured product that a customer may be considering.
The website’s community forums and blogs will provide the latest technology news as well as the opportunity to ask questions and get advice from community members.
Customers can also post their own video product reviews through Best Buy’s TechXpert platform, which invites members of the public to submit reviews to earn the chance to become a product tester for Best Buy.
deVere Forster, Managing Director for Online at Best Buy UK said: “The launch of our e-commerce store on BestBuy.co.uk marks a key milestone for the business and helps to make buying technology simple, inspiring and tailored to each of our customers. We are very excited that customers from across the UK will now be able to experience the Best Buy brand for the first time.
“With Christmas on the horizon, customers will now be able to shop for the very best and latest products and services available at great prices in a captivating and entertaining environment – just like in all our stores.”
BestBuy.co.uk will showcase the latest and greatest audio and visual equipment, computing technology, entertainment devices, appliances, mobiles, music, movies, games and services to enable customers to get the most out of their technology.
Customers looking to take advantage of the Geek Squad’s technology support and advice service can receive expert help from a Geek Squad Agent in store or 24/7 at Geeksquad.co.uk.
All products and services that are available in store will be found online and at the same price.
There will be an expanded selection of products across the categories available to purchase on the site, which will also be available to purchase in-store via the online kiosks.
Best Buy is offering delivery, from free, extending its reach far beyond its existing stores.
In addition, the company will offer a Reserve & Collect facility where customers can reserve items from their nearest Best Buy store and within an hour receive notification of when their purchases are available for collection.
Best Buy is working with Wincanton, its logistics partner and Axida – using their HDi home delivery software – to support the company’s goal of providing customer service excellence to customers wherever they are.
Best Buy has stores in Thurrock (Essex), Hedge End (Southampton), Merry Hill (West Midlands), Aintree (Liverpool), Croydon and Derby.
Best Buy will open stores in Bristol, Nottingham, Enfield, Rotherham and Hayes in 2011.
