Web company Public Zone have won the opportunity to build Smarta – an online social networking, advice and information site aimed solely at entrepreneurs.

Smarta is the brainchild of Shaa Wasmund; in association with Royal Bank Of Scotland, Wasmund intends to launch the service in November.  Public Zone won a competitive pitch to build the site; they will help with the technical build, and assist in the implementation of the social network.

The site will give business owners the chance to share ideas, learn the essentials of establishing a business (such as registration with Companies House and banking) and access tools and services to help their growth.

Public Zone’s previous successes include award-winning digital and print products for public sector, voluntary and not-for-profit organisations and projects, such as Capital Radio (Help a London Child), BT, UK Commission for Employment and Skills, Institute of Social and Economic Research, and Exeter College Oxford.

Jonathan Simmons, Managing Director of Public Zone, said: “Smarta is using popular social networking tools and masses of advice and information to help business people learn and grow their business. We have benefited from similar advice as we’ve grown over the years and welcome this opportunity to be able to help others in the same way.”

Shaa Wasmund, Founder of Smarta, said: “To set up a business you have to have energy, determination, ideas and the right connections. Smarta will bring people at all stages along the business journey together, to share experiences and get the answers they need, when they need them. The team at Public Zone are a great fit for us as they share our entrepreneurial spirit and have specific expertise in social networking sites”.
