BT arm wins Ireland 3G roll-out

Esat BT, the BT-owned telecoms infrastructure group, has been selected by Hutchison Whampoa to roll-out a 3G network in Ireland. The EU100m deal will enable Hutchison to launch the '3' brand in Ireland, with Esat BT charged with building and operating the 3G network. No details on timescales were released. Esat BT MD Stuart Horwood described the deal as "an excellent strategic win".
