The company will roll out a customised version of its software for thomascook.com, to enable users to book flights, hotels, car hire and insurance cover. OTC will also add its popular Build-Your-Own self-packaging tool to thomascook.com.
The company will support thomascook.com in a variety of ways, taking care of customer service, e-ticketing and fulfilment. OTC CEO Mark Jones described the deal as a 'landmark' contract.
However, Jones was less bullish about recent trading, after admitting that sales momentum since the Iraq war had "eased over the summer months", forcing it to revise expectations. He did not reveal how much the company now expects to generate in sales, but noted that overall sales growth will be in excess of 40% for the year.
The trading update mirrors a similar statement released by industry counterpart ebookers on Friday. Ebookers said trading in August had been below expectations but that things had picked up in September.
OTC said the thomascook.com deal will underpin performance in 2004.
