More than 40,000 music lovers have already signed up to make use of the free service, which has been postponed until 9 April in order to provide more choice to users, as new record labels have recently signed up to take part in the scheme.
Music fans will be able to stream, download or burn £3 worth of tunes, with the choice of 150,000 individual songs from about 7,000 artists.
Partner download service providers include dotmusic on demand, HMV music club, Freeservce, MSN and MTV, which will launch its new service in tandem with OD2's free for all event.
