Digital trends in Germany 2014: Gutefrage and Hubert Burda get biggest growth

Google and Facebook remain the most popular sites in but local community site Gutefrage was the fastest riser, according to new research.


The data, from Comscore, found that in January 2014, more than 58 million internet users in Germany went online via a desktop PC or laptop.
Microsoft reached 32.5 MM onliners to claim 3rd place in the rankings, overtaking both eBay and Amazon for the first time since May 2013, the study found.

Community site Gutefrage.net GmbH and Hubert Burda Media experienced the strongest month on month growth among the Top 20 Online properties, increasing their traffic by 14% and 11%, respectively.
More than 80% of all onliners also consumed online videos, bringing the number of Total Unique Viewers in Germany in January 2014 to 46.5 million. Google (including YouTube) remained at the top with an audience of 38.2 million viewers, heading the new top 3 consisting of Google, Facebook and ProSiebenSat.1.
While AOL (including Adap.tv) dropped out of the Top 20 Video Properties in January 2014, RTL had a strong start to the new year, climbing from 19th to 8th position.
