YouTube stream of Dutch football team gets 35,000 viewers

A YouTube stream of the Netherlands football team training ahead of their England friendly match has notched up an impressive 35,000 viewers.

As reported by DigitalFootball.com, the Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB) premiered their first live stream of their Wembley training session (ahead of the international friendly against England) on YouTube on Tuesday night. The content was restricted to YouTube users in the Netherlands.
The content attracted 35,000 viewers with an average view time of 13 minutes.
The KNVB decided to utilise their players’ Social Media presence rather than go down the traditional PR route to promote the initiative.
The innovative experiment was announced via a small press release and many of the football players themselves mentioned the broadcast via their own social media channels, such as facebook and on Twitter.
Last year FC Barcelona used YouTube to live stream the opening of their La Masia training ground (93,000 views), but still many clubs have yet to utilise one of the worlds largest social networks.
