BBC leap to tablet content delivery strategy

The revamped homepage has been launched as a beta design, along with the existing homepage, to allow viewers to make a comparison between the two and provide the broadcaster with their feedback.
The new homepage pushes the iPlayer rather than news, sport and weather, with a ‘carousel’ format that allows users to scroll between diverse parts of the page. The newest version can be viewed on tablets, laptops, PCs, mobile phones as well as media players.
Describing the features of the new homepage, BBC Future Media’s Phil Fearnley said, “We wanted to make sure that all of our products were available for our audiences on as broad a range of devices as possible.”
BBC Online has been consolidated into a total of ten products, viz. News, Sport, Weather, CBBC, CBeebies, Radio & Music, TV & iPlayer, Knowledge & Learning, Homepage and Search.
As per the BBC’s claims, it homepage is visited by more than 9 million unique users per week across different devices.
