we7 launches ‘tag cloud’ to aid music discovery

UK music streaming service we7 has added a new ‘tag cloud’ functionality to its site., in a bid to encourage users to discover new music.

The visual ‘tag clouds’ allow users to click through to songs that are aligned to the keyword – clicking ‘Love’, as an example, could link through to Barry White or the most popular love songs of all time.
Commenting on the launch, Steve Purdham, CEO, we7, said: “We have always aimed to make it as easy as possible for consumers to find new music. We offer a full ‘sit-back’ approach, allowing users to have relevant content played to them, but can equally enable the consumer to search for specific tracks or artists – it’s all about choice and making music access as simple as possible for the consumer.”
The additional search functionality follows big news from we7 last month, when it announced that it had launched ‘Internet Radio Plus’ – bringing personal audio streaming to the mass market. Internet Radio Plus aims to offer personalised music that is simple to access and use, personal to the listener and portable, without being device agnostic.
A significant study into we7’s users unveiled that 41% prefer an intelligent radio model, over traditional music streaming offerings*.
Commenting on the new and improved service, Purdham added: “We’re really happy with the online personal radio offering, it’s simple to use and intelligent, offering the consumer compelling content with minimal effort or time investment. The next few months will be particularly exciting for us and we’re looking forward to taking online content access to the next level.”
