Spotfiy debuts QR-style codes to boost music sharing

Spotify has launched Spotify Codes, which lets users share any track, artist, album, or playlist available on the platform.

The new function be accessed by tapping the ‘…’ menu to reveal the code, which will appear on the bottom of the relevant release’s artwork.

Users can scan codes from other devices to follow specific playlist and share their Spotify profiles on social media.

Codes posted by artists can also be imported via a screenshot, which will direct listeners to the latest single of a specific artist. Codes can also be scanned from flyers, posters and billboards.

By tapping on the code-enhanced artwork, users can also save it to their phones for easy and quick social sharing. Codes can be scanned by clicking on the new camera icon located to the right of the search bar.

Spotify also view the new software as a new way for artists, labels and brands to instantly engage with fans through the platform.

Spotify Codes are currently being rolled out to all users on both Android and iOS globally.
