Black Friday lunchtime update: £19m in revenue as 27% of sales through iPhones

As Black Friday unfolds, live data from Affiliate Window indicates sales are already up on last year’s major shopping event in the UK, at 1pm UK time.

With over 2,000 of the UK’s biggest eCommerce advertisers partnered with Affiliate Window, their live data visualisation website already shows some impressive insights.

Reporting the events of Black Friday as they unfold, the site has been live and updated with hourly data since midnight. By making this data available to all, Affiliate Window hope to raise awareness of the power of online marketing in what has become a key trading day for the UK’s economy.

Key insights at midday include:

– Over £19 million in revenue tracked

– Almost 27% of sales were being initiated by the iPhone, another 6% by Android handsets. With one third of sales coming from traditional Windows devices.

– With Black Friday being a day of heavy discounting, it is no surprise to see 53% of transactions being driven by incentivised traffic sources. Discount Code sites are leading the way, closely followed by cashback sites.

– So far today, we’ve seen smartphones’ share of converting devices increase from 29% in 2015 to 34%. Handsets are so far driving one third of all sales on the network.

Anjulie Truong, Operations Director at Affiliate Window says “In previous years, we have released data and insights to the market in the days and weeks after Black Friday. As the day has become such a key trading day in the calendar of so many retailers, we are excited to launch our data visualisation website to show trends live as they emerge on the day. ”
