Video viral of the week: Nike Euro 2012 ad gets 9 million views in 3 days

Nike’s football tournament ads have become something of an event in themselves in recent years, but the new “My Time is Now” YouTube ad could be their most successful online venture yet. See why it’s our video viral of the week below…

The YouTube video hit 3 million views in only three days and features an all-star cast of footballers.
The video release coincides with the beginning of the European Chamionships which kicks off on 8th June. At time of writing, the has racked over 14 million YouTube views and 80,000 ‘likes’.
At this fast pace, the lengthy Nike ad will surpass their previous viral success “Write the Future,” which was released in 2010 and topped out at 28 million YouTube views.
The 3-minute ad features a new generation of football players and promotes the Clash Collection boot collection.
The ad opens on a soccer match between France and Holland, where the field is taken over by a third squad of young players from “The Chance,” Nike’s scouting mission to find 100 potential soccer champions from 50 countries.
The commercial includes cameo appearances by Neymar, Franck Ribery, Wesley Sneijder, Mesut Ozil and Danny Welbeck, and even LeBron James.
The Youtube version of the film invites viewers to go through hidden tunnels to get a deeper look at athletes and their inspirations.
