In the past few years, the first Monday of December has proved to be the biggest sales day of the year for Amazon, which received over 2.3 million orders on Monday December 6th last year.
Christopher North, managing director of Amazon.co.uk, said: “Mondays remain the busiest shopping day in the run up to Christmas, but every day of that week will see high sales as more and more people have immediate access to shop online via home broadband and, increasingly, mobile devices.”
Amazon expects the bulk of the orders to be placed around a peak time of 9pm, while also predicting that December 12th, the following Monday, will also see a high volume of online purchases.
The predictions were made as Amazon.co.uk opened its new Christmas store.
