Rightmove launches ‘seller of the month’ Facebook competition

Rightmove have launched a major new Facebook contest, as the UK leading property website looks to encourage sales in the turbulent property market.

The ‘Seller of the Month’ app allows vendors to put forward their property on Rightmove’s Facebook page and describe what’s great about the home they are selling.
Facebook users can then review the list of entrants and vote for their favourite property.
At the end of each month, the eventual winner receives a bundle of Rightmove advertising products valued at over £5,000, which will make it the most visible and stand-out property on the UK’s most-visited property website.
Social media is an expanding part of Rightmove’s growth strategy with the site seeing 50% year-on-year growth in site visits from social media channels, and around 300,000 visits a month now coming directly from either Twitter or Facebook.
Seller of the Month is the second Facebook based competition this year following Rightmove’s Ideas Factory which received over 1,500 entries.
Rightmove director Miles Shipside said: “In a market that is low on transactions with high levels of unsold stock, standing out online can really make the difference. ‘Seller of the Month’ will provide sellers and their agents with an extra place to promote their homes for sale, and each month give one lucky winning seller a massive online advertising boost”.
The winning ‘Seller of the Month’ will receive over £5,000 of free Rightmove advertising products which will place the seller’s property in prime positions across the website.
Rightmove receives over 10m home-movers every month and sits in 8th position between Amazon and the BBC website on the list of most-used websites by the British public.
The app has been designed by Facebook-preferred developer Gamaroff who have designed successful apps for Playstation, Marmite and Absolut.
Shipside added: “Social media channels are becoming a key component of the property search process and we are seeing more and more how these channels can extend the reach of a property to larger audiences. This competition is all about encouraging vendors and their agents to share and discuss their Rightmove property listings on social media channels as a simple means of gaining greater exposure.”
